There is no doubt that since Netflix emerged on the scene, the landscape of television has changed dramatically. Netflix provides a huge library of TV shows that are currently running, have already ended and previous seasons of existing shows. This allows the viewer to completely veg out on a box set changing how your average British viewer is now absorbing TV content. Here are the top 5 most popular shows currently available on Netflix:
- Mad Men – set in New York in the 1960s, Mad men is about a high profile ad agency trying to stay ahead of the game in the face of new competition. The series follows the ups and downs of the agency while the ad industry is going through radical changes.
- Breaking Bad – this follows the exploits of Walter White played by Brian Cranston, a chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal cancer who turns to drug dealing, aided by his chemistry skills, to secure his family's finances before he dies. Working with former student Jesse Pinkman, played by Aaron Paul, the pair face many trials and tribulations throughout the series. The show follows the moral dilemmas, dangers, consequences and family issues surrounding his new choice of career.
- House of Cards – this political drama evolves around Francis Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, who is the US Senate Majority Whip. Using every inch of his power, political clout and secrets he knows about hic colleagues, he sets to get rid of his enemies and work his way to the top. Aided and abetted by environmental lobbyist Claire, played by Robin Wright, the two will go to any lengths to destroy their opponents and get what they want.
- Bloodline – this family melodrama follows the Rayburn family who have an array of secrets that start to unravel as soon as the black sheep of the family Danny, played by Ben Mendelsohn, arrives home for his parent's 45th wedding anniversary.
- The West Wing – political drama about President Jed Bartlett, played by Martin Sheen, and his staff as they face a wide variety of personal and political battles during their time in office. Highly praised for its accuracy and sharp scripts, there are 7 seasons of the show to enjoy on Netflix.
